For two, 3-hour TUK TUK ATHENS tour

Athens has one tuk-tuk operator and two tours worth booking. We compare the three-hour day tour and the two-hour afternoon and evening tour on what two, four or eight people really pay, plus the sidecar and seated e-scooter alternatives.

What You Should Know

  • An Athens tuk-tuk tour is a private two or three hour ride in an open electric tuk-tuk with a driver-guide, from Syntagma past the Parliament, Panathenaic Stadium, Plaka and Lycabettus.
  • The three-hour tour starts at 08:30 or 12:00 and the two-hour tour at 15:30 or 18:00; pickup is included from hotels within 2 km of Syntagma Square.
  • Prices fall per person up to four: the three-hour tour costs €192 for two and €240 for four, the two-hour tour €152 and €188. Five or more need a second tuk-tuk.
  • The tuk-tuk does not drive to the top of Lycabettus: you walk up or queue for the funicular on a separate ticket, and that stop can take a large share of the tour.

Athens Tuk Tuk Tour Guide: Who Runs Them, Routes and Prices

A tuk tuk tour in Athens is a private ride in a small open electric vehicle with a driver who doubles as your guide. One company runs them, TUK TUK ATHENS, and it offers two tours worth booking: a three-hour daytime city tour and a two-hour afternoon and evening tour. Both pick you up at your hotel if it is within 2 km of Syntagma Square, take in the Parliament and the Evzone guards, the Panathenaic Stadium, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Plaka and the Roman Agora, and stop at Lycabettus Hill for the view. Each tuk-tuk takes up to four people.

Booking an Athens tuk tuk tour? Know two things first. The ride is bumpy on the cobbles, and back discomfort is the most common complaint in the lower-rated reviews. And the tuk-tuk stops below the top of Lycabettus: you walk up or queue for the funicular on your own ticket. If the hilltop view is the point, Hellas Vintage Tours' 90-minute sidecar rides up the hill.

Below we compare the two tuk-tuk tours with live prices for every group size, checked on 14 October 2026, plus three open-air alternatives: two private sidecar rides and a seated e-scooter tour. For a private car with a driver-guide instead, see our Athens private tour guide, and for after-dark options, our Athens night tours guide. Prefer to ride yourself? See our Athens bike tour and Segway tour guides, and if you are just landing, our airport transfer guide. The tuk-tuk also appears in our guides to the best things to do in Athens for families and the best things to do in Athens for seniors, and our guide to the best things to do in Athens covers the rest of the city.

Athens Tuk Tuk Tours Compared, Plus 3 Open-Air Alternatives

Athens tuk tuk tours at a glance: the two-hour tour costs €152 for two and €188 for four, and the three-hour tour €192 for two and €240 for four, both private with hotel pickup. The open-air alternatives run from €118 for two on a self-driven seated e-scooter to €205 for a 90-minute sidecar ride.

Is a tuk-tuk tour right for you?

Book one if you are a family or group of up to four, want to keep walking to a minimum, want hotel pickup, and would like a private orientation of central Athens on your first day.

Choose something else if you have back problems (the ride is bumpy), want to reach the top of Lycabettus without walking, or want in-depth history; a sidecar or a walking tour suits you better.

How we chose them: TUK TUK ATHENS is the only tuk-tuk operator in Athens with recent reviews, so we compare its two live tours and add the three closest open-air alternatives, ranked on review score and volume, recency, what you see for the price, and what a typical group of two to four pays.

What to Expect on an Athens Tuk Tuk Tour

Three hours from your hotel door through central Athens and back.

  1. 0108:30

    Hotel pickup

Your driver collects you at a hotel or apartment within 2 km of Syntagma Square, or meets you at Syntagma.

  2. 02

    Parliament and the guards

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Evzones, then past the Academy of Athens and an Orthodox church.

  3. 03

    Lycabettus Hill

The highest viewpoint in central Athens, reached on foot or by funicular from where the tuk-tuk stops.

  4. 04

    Panathenaic Stadium

A photo stop at the marble stadium of the first modern Olympics, then past the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian's Arch.

  5. 05

    Plaka and the Roman Agora

Through the old town's narrow lanes to Hadrian's Library, the Roman Agora and the Tower of the Winds, often with a snack stop.

  6. 06~11:30

    Back to your hotel

Drop-off at your hotel, or wherever in the centre you want to start the rest of the day.

This follows the three-hour day tour. The two-hour tour visits most of the same places with shorter stops. What typically happens at each sight is a short explanation from the driver, then a few minutes out of the tuk-tuk for photos; the longer stops are Lycabettus and, often, a snack break in Plaka.

Our take (the Lycabettus stop): This is where expectations and reality part ways most often: guests have lost 50 minutes of a three-hour tour to the funicular queue, so decide at pickup whether to go up or use the time elsewhere.

The Best Tuk Tuk Tours and Alternatives in Athens

Grouped by what each tour does best, with the top pick highlighted. Prices are totals for two unless stated. We'd give the edge to the three-hour tuk-tuk for families of three or four on a first day, and to the sidecar for couples who want the Lycabettus view without the walk.

1
Best overall

TUK TUK ATHENS: Complete City Center Tour

€192 for two, €240 for four, three hours from 08:30 or 12:00 with hotel pickup. Rated 4.87 from 305 reviews, 283 of them five stars. The best-reviewed drivers time the stops for the Changing of the Guard and stop for Greek yoghurt or ice cream. The recurring complaint, besides the bumpy ride, is that some bookings finished 40 to 45 minutes early.

Best evening tour

TUK TUK ATHENS: Private Evening / Afternoon Tour

€152 for two and €188 for four, two hours from 15:30 or 18:00, ending wherever you want to stop for dinner. Rated 4.81 from 255 reviews. The 18:00 start rides past the monuments as they are lit, and the same core sights are covered in less time. A group of 11 recently rode in three tuk-tuks travelling together, which works well for families.

Hellas Vintage Tours: 90-Minute Sidecar Tour

€205 per sidecar of up to two, for 60 to 90 minutes. One passenger rides in the sidecar and one behind the driver, and you swap at stops. Unlike the tuk-tuk, it rides right up Lycabettus. All but one of 76 reviews are five stars, and a guest with an elderly mother-in-law in the sidecar praised how the route was changed when she could not walk far. The ride is bumpy and you breathe the traffic at rush hour. Drivers regularly take photos for you and hand out restaurant tips.

Hellas Vintage Tours: Acropolis & Plaka Sidecar Tour

€175 per sidecar for one hour through Plaka, Anafiotika, Thiseio and Monastiraki, with hourly starts from 09:30 to 20:30. Rated 4.9 from 118 reviews. It suits a jet-lagged arrival day or an evening ride; an 80-year-old guest rode in the sidecar, and the operator has moved rides around rain at short notice. One family found it hard to hear the driver from the back, so ask questions at the stops.

Wheelz Fat Bike Tours: Seated E-Scooter Tour

€59 each, €118 for two, for two hours around the Acropolis area with a stop on Mars Hill. You drive a seated fat-tyre scooter yourself in a guided group rather than being driven, and there is no hotel pickup. 563 of 564 reviews are five stars, and child tickets start at age 3. It is the best value for couples who are happy to drive.

Three-Hour Day Tour or Two-Hour Evening Tour?

Both tours are private, both pick you up at your hotel, and both visit the same core sights. The difference is time, light and how much of the tour the Lycabettus stop takes.

Best forA first day, with time to walk around the stopsArrival day after a flight, the lit monuments, ending at dinner

We think the tradeoff is that the extra hour buys breathing room rather than many extra sights: with a Lycabettus funicular queue in the middle, two hours can feel rushed, and several lower-rated reviews of the shorter tour describe drive-by stops with little commentary. Choose the evening tour for the light and the dinner finish, the day tour if you want to get out at the stops. Ending at dinner? Our Athens food tour guide covers the tavernas and tastings worth knowing.

Is an Athens Tuk Tuk Tour Worth It?

Yes, if you are on a first visit with a family or group of three or four and want to see central Athens without much walking. At €47 to €60 each for four, with hotel pickup, it is good value for that group. For a couple on a budget, a history enthusiast or anyone with a bad back, it is usually not the best choice.

Worth it if youNot worth it if you
Are on a first visit and want an orientationAre a couple looking for the cheapest option (the €118 seated e-scooter costs less)

Athens Tuk Tuk Tour vs Walking Tour

For most visitors the real alternative to a tuk-tuk is a guided walk. A walk costs far less and goes deeper into the history; the tuk-tuk covers more ground with much less effort.

Tuk-tuk tourGuided walking tour
Price for two€152 to €192 (private)About €72 to €94 for most walks (€36 to €47 each)
WalkingLow: short stops, in and out of the vehicleHigh: 2 to 4 hours on foot, with hills and cobbles
Ground coveredWide: Syntagma to Plaka, the stadium and LycabettusNarrower: usually the Acropolis area and the old town
History depthModerate, from a driver-guideHigher; on some walks a licensed guide takes you inside the Acropolis
GroupPrivate, up to four per tuk-tukUsually a group, up to 24 on some
PickupFrom your hotel within 2 km of SyntagmaMeet at a set point in the centre

We'd book the tuk-tuk on your first day for the overview, and a walk later for the Acropolis itself. Walking-tour prices come from our Athens walking tours guide, which compares eight of them.

How Much Does a Tuk Tuk Tour in Athens Cost?

A private tuk-tuk tour in Athens costs €152 to €192 for two people and €188 to €240 for four. Most people don't realize that the per-person price falls only up to four, because that is how many one tuk-tuk takes; the fifth person adds a second vehicle and the total jumps by €122 to €150.

Group sizeThree-hour tourTwo-hour tour
1 person€170€120
2 people€192€152
3 people€216€168
4 people€240€188
5 people€390€310
6 people€414€336
8 people€456€392
Couples€118 to €205

From the self-driven Wheelz e-scooter at €118 to the 90-minute sidecar at €205; the tuk-tuks sit between at €152 and €192.

Families of four€188 to €240

The tuk-tuk's sweet spot: €47 each for two hours or €60 each for three, against €350 for four on the sidecars, which need two vehicles.

Groups of five to eight€310 to €456

Two tuk-tuks travelling together. Eight people pay about the same per head as four, or slightly less; five pay the most.

Add the Lycabettus funicular if you ride up (one 2024 guest paid €10 each) and any monument tickets. Tips are not included.

Our Take

The pattern we keep seeing in reviews is that the driver makes the tour: the five-star rides describe drivers who explained each stop, sat in the back to talk at the sights and timed the guards, while the low ones describe fast driving and drive-bys with little commentary.

Tips for Booking a Tuk Tuk Tour in Athens

  • Book four, not five. A fifth person adds a second tuk-tuk (see the price table), so a group of five may prefer to split or choose another format.
  • Decide about Lycabettus at pickup. If you want the summit, budget for the funicular and a summer queue; if not, ask the driver to use the time elsewhere.
  • Think about your back. The ride is bumpy over cobbles and the bench seats face each other, so two people ride backwards. We'd look elsewhere if you have back problems: a car tour with a driver-guide is the gentler choice.
  • Ask for the full time. Several lower-rated reviews describe tours that ended 40 minutes to an hour early. If yours is finishing early, ask the driver to add a stop.
  • Check the weather. The tuk-tuk is open to cold and rain; bad-weather cancellations get a full refund. For a winter trip, see our Athens in January guide.
  • Bringing young children? The booking form only has a ticket for ages 13 and over, and infants ride on a lap, but families with children of 6 and 12 have ridden. Message the operator before you book.
  • Book early in your stay, and confirm the day before. Recent guests report late starts of 15 minutes to an hour, and in 2023 and 2025 bookings were cancelled the night before over vehicle problems. A booking early in the trip leaves room to rebook; both companies have also fitted in last-minute requests.
  • Save your questions for the stops. It can be hard to hear the driver from the back of a tuk-tuk or under a sidecar helmet, so the best explanations come when you stop. Drivers are also happy to take your photos.
  • Visiting in June? Our Athens in June guide explains why the 18:00 evening ride beats a midday one in 32°C heat.
  • Going inside the sites? No tour here enters the Acropolis or the Agoras. See our Acropolis tour guide for timed tickets and licensed guides, or browse all our Athens tour guides.

How We Selected These Tours

The Greece Trip Insider team looked at every tuk-tuk tour in Athens. All of them come from one operator, TUK TUK ATHENS, so we compared its two live tours and added the three closest open-air alternatives: two private sidecar rides and a seated e-scooter tour. We checked all five live listings on 14 October 2026, including the price for every group size from one to eight, schedules, pickup rules and full star distributions, and read recent and low-rated reviews of each. We left out TUK TUK ATHENS' four-hour cruise-passenger tour, which has two reviews and none since March 2024, and a Riviera sidecar tour that leaves central Athens.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is a tuk tuk tour in Athens?+

For a private tour, €152 for two on the two-hour tour and €192 for two on the three-hour tour, checked October 2026. Four people pay €188 or €240 in total. Five or more need a second tuk-tuk, so five pay €310 or €390.

Who runs tuk tuk tours in Athens?+

TUK TUK ATHENS is the only tuk-tuk operator with recent reviews. It runs a three-hour day tour from 08:30 or 12:00 and a two-hour afternoon and evening tour from 15:30 or 18:00, both private with hotel pickup.

How many people fit in an Athens tuk-tuk?+

Up to four per tuk-tuk, on bench seats facing each other. Groups of five to eight ride in two tuk-tuks travelling together, and larger groups have booked three.

Does the Athens tuk tuk tour go up Lycabettus?+

It stops at Lycabettus, but the tuk-tuk does not drive to the summit. You walk up or take the funicular on a separate ticket. If you want to ride to the top, Hellas Vintage Tours' 90-minute sidecar tour goes up the hill by road.

Is a tuk tuk tour in Athens good for people with limited mobility?+

It suits travellers who want to keep walking to a minimum, with hotel pickup and short stops, and guests with elderly relatives rate it highly. It is not right for every mobility limitation: you climb in and out at each stop, sit on a bench over bumpy cobbles, and the Lycabettus summit means a walk or funicular. Ask the operator about your needs before booking.

Where does the Athens tuk tuk tour pick you up?+

At hotels and apartments within 2 km of Syntagma Square, included in the price. If you are staying further out, the operator can arrange something, or you can meet the tuk-tuk at Syntagma Square.

Is an Athens tuk tuk tour worth it?+

Yes for a first visit with a family or group of three or four who want to keep walking to a minimum: it costs €47 to €60 each with hotel pickup. Less so for couples on a budget, history enthusiasts, or anyone with back problems.
